Ali

I found out about his death as the first rays of the dawn sun seeped through my window, before my social networks lay flooded with tributes, and even later as I saw dusk encroach through the same window, I still faintly shuddered on occasion, not yet completely processing it.

Now that I think about it, perhaps one of my first lessons in artistry was watching those Ali fights they used to screen at 2-3 in the morning on UK television as part of the ‘Classic Boxing Fights’ series back in the day…

Every hero I looked up to as a kid has gone now. We can only hope there are still human beings with such heart and powerful convictions like Ali left to teach us, to help us better understand.

On a sidenote, the Ali Vs. Supes shirt I’m wearing in this random pic from last summer, by an underground London label, is no longer in production and is pretty rare to come by these days, even good quality duplicates being few and far between. It’s one of my most prized possessions.

Ali Vs. Superman
